Good, Bad, Ugly, and Fuck Derek Jeter
Ugh...that loss sucked, but at least the Red Sox put up a fight near the end. Kinda sucks that Papi had to pop out to end it, but that's the way it rolls. I'm annoyed and pissed off but I'm at least feeling a little better. I mean this at least wasn't Friday and the team DID show some goddamn fight at the end. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but at least you can say that they TRIED to win. It just sucks that Schill got the loss because he pitched his ass off tonight. You know, for all the panic we were in about the starting pitching, you gotta admit the Red Sox at least accomplished many things. Which shows some good, bad, and ugly.
Good: Schilling pitched his ass off. 7.2 IP and 4 ER but the runs were all scored off of 2 HRs...They got a run off of Joba! First ER of his career...the comeback attempt in the 9th was pretty sweet...Mike Lowell hit a HR...At least it didn't end like it did on Friday...Gagne looked good as well...it really wasn't that bad of a game. Just bad luck straight up
Bad: They still lost and it still sucks...Derek Jeter is the luckiest sonofabitch on the face of the planet and it sickens me so freaking much...not able to do much off Clemens...No luck whatsoever early on. They were pretty much hitting Clemens pretty hard in the early goings but everything went either to the warning track or right at people...goddamn fucking Yankee fans yammering stupidly about how "the Red Sox can't beat the Yankees in any important series'" but that's not true nor it will never be true...dude they still lost...Papi didn't get it done, but dude it's the law of averages. Papi will get it done when they really need it. At least in my eyes...well at least we're not the Angels who blew a 7-1 lead to the Chicago White Sox. THE WHITE SOX! So we got that going for us, which is nice.
Ugly: Wasn't really anything entirely ugly save for one bad pitch from Schilling. It happens. *shrugs shoulders* I'm not really that pissed off
So what can we take out of this series? Well they won on Saturday. That was huge given the circumstances of the night before. So that's huge. The starting pitchers showed up and kicked some ass, most notably Dice and Beckett. That was something we REALLY needed to see above all else. They came back in bounceback awesome form on Saturday and showed that they wont be taken down THAT easily. They showed no fear and hell even JD Drew(!!!) got a big hit in a game(which was Saturday...that was huge at the time) and Jacoby Ellsbury's legend grows. His knee better be all better by tomorrow or I'm gonna be ripshit. It sucks, it's not fair sometimes, but that's baseball for ya. It's never gonna be fair and while I did knee jerk react beforehand, I'm usually at peace with it. It's just the immediate reactions always come out first. They'll be okay. I know they will.
And one more time, I'm really sorry Detroit :( We tried, we really did...however the Yanks got Baltimore next and Baltimore has killed them in the past. Hopefully they can somehow keep it up and the Tigers and sneak in the back and make it to postseason. They deserve it.
