Gotta love a blowout
Red Sox won their first game today by the score of 11-3. It was looking hairy at first with Beckett not looking that great. He wasn't with his best stuff but hung in there for 5.2 innings giving up only 3 runs. Not bad, not bad at all. The bullpen was huge today in picking up for Beckett shutting the door the rest of the way out. It wasn't as big of a run eruption early on but were able to score 6 runs in the last 2 innings. Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek led the way today with some fantastic hitting. Lowell went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Varitek went 2-3 with 4 RBI and a HR. A good team win, and a nice pick me up for Beckett.
Now there's still one more game to go at 8pm. The good news is that Papelbon, Gagne, and Delcarmen are still fresh. Lopez is likely good to go another inning or so and Snyder is good too just in case. Schiling goes up against Jon Danks and hopefully Schill will be on his game and the offense can carry on their offense. Go for the doubleheader sweep. It's looking like rain in Chicago still, so hopefully they can get at least 5-6 full innings in and then call it from there. Just get the runs early and take it from there.
