While this Kenny Rogers that is playing for Motown's own Tigers doesn't sing country music or is a schill for chicken, this Kenny Rogers just proved wrong a crapload of "baseball experts" and pitched 7.2 innings of shutout baseball. Yes, that Kenny Rogers. The one who "couldn't pitch against the Yankees", who "choked in the postseason", who was old and had an affinity for shoving cameramen. Yep, he kicked ass and took names and shut down the best offense evar. Not bad for a 41 year old. Yes boys and girls, pitching is the key to winning games. Great offense or not, pitching is what wins it. And the Tigers have gotten some good pitching I must say. So Kenny Rogers gets some love here.
Meanwhile out west, the A's finally broke their streak of dropping the clinchers and won an easy third game, sweeping the Twins and advancing to the ALCS. I can't root for Oakland. They just....ehhh....they bug me. I mean I like Frank Thomas but I can't stand Swisher and Payton(for what he did in 05 to the Red Sox). Yeah so anyways it's Oakland vs whomever the hell joins in on the fun.
Tomorrow is the return of the NL games plus Game 4 of the ALDS. At 1pm, we got St. Louis going for the sweep vs San Diego(aka Red Sox West). St. Louis' pitching seems to have magically awakened lately. At 4pm you got, on ESPN, the Tigers and Yankees. Tigers leading 2-1 and at home. Bonderman vs Jaret Wright. Should be interesting. And then at 8pm, my favorite series of teh bunch, the Mets goes on vs the Dodgers. The Mets lead 2-0 so it should be fun to see what happens there.
