playing catch-up [part 2: stalking the worlds of 2D]

This is what I do to kill time before a Dir en grey concert on a school day.

2007/12/17: Tokyo DisneyLand

In order to miss the massive weekend crowds, and catch the Xmas parades; Minji, Yuko and I decided to skip class and go to DisneyLand.  ...Except I had to go to a Dir en Grey concert in the evening so I ended up missing the evening parade -_-;;  But it was fun to see everything done up for Xmas.  And as an added bonus, I finally got to see the Haunted Mansion done up Nightmare Before Xmas style!  Boo-yah!  I really wish they would make TNBC an all-time year thing, since it looks so much better like that than the normal Haunted Mansion.

Doesn't he look kinda cranky, like he's been subjected to wearing the hat against his will.  Heh.

Bwah!

I dunno, but after playing Kingdom Hearts, I've come to have a soft spot for Donald.  And he's probably my fave original Disney character.  And I find it amusing, you can't see it here, that everyone is attached to the float by a rope.

Of course we need a photo of us with Disney/Cinderella castle.

And with Winnie the Pooh and co.

Purty purty lights.

And finally the electric light parade.

I want a flying ship!

This came out kinda freaky.

We also rode the newly renovated Pirates of the Caribbeans, and they've added Jack Sparrow/Johhny Depp.  OMG, the people in this ride look so real, that I was almost sure they were real people and not just animatronics.

Didn't ride very mand roller coasters since Yuko doesn't like them, and Splash Mountain was under renovation, while the bad weather meant that Big Thunder was also out of operation.  But Minji and I rode Space Mountain which is just too fun for words.  We got to sit in the very front, OMG, that is really scary and neither of us could get a sound out!  And Minji spent the whole ride with her eyes closed!  Man, I love that ride.

This is what I do to kill time before a Dir en grey concert on a weekend.

2007/12/22: Jump Festa 2007

Because I totally suck, I didn't find out about this until the last moment.  But least I actually made it!  And I still can't believe how far it is from my place, even further than DisneyLand!  Tokyo is one of those cities where is you want a large are space, whether it be for a live or convention, you have to go to the outskirts.  And it is always on the east side!  Why can't there be any on my side of town!?  Humph.

Jump Festa was held over the course of two days, but I only went to the first day since it was too expensive travel-wise to go to both - plus this was the week I had gone to four concerts and Disney.  Heh.

Here be big signpost that greeted me on the way to the hall.  Loud and in your face.  Heh.

When I entered the main hall I was greeted by a giant Naruto!  And a giant...

Ichigo!  ...They both very loud characters aren't they?  I think it is the excessive orange.  Heh.

Seeing a giant Sena made me happy since Eyeshield21, while popular, is not that popular in Japan.  I think because it is set in contemporary times, and no-ones has uber powers.  But what I really want to know is, Hiruma always win the popularity polls for ES21, but Sena is on all the promotional stuff.  Weird that.  But then again, Sena is Eyeshield21.  And a giant Hiruma would be pretty freaky.

I want this billboard.  I saw many shiny trailers for the new Devil May Cry game.  It looks EPIC!  One thing I hated about the previous DMC games is that the backdrops were a bit too dark and samey.  But I did enjoy DMC3 a lot since Dante was a big cheeseball!  Anyway the new DMC is very shiny, some of the CG quality and monsters remind me of Final Fantasy and this game is gonna rock.  The gameplay was amazing, and while I didn't get a chance to play it [no way was I gonna queue for three hours!], the controls look really flexible.  But is it just me, doesn't Nero [DMC's new protangonist] look a bit too much like Dante?

I saw this from a distance, squealed, and made like the crow flies.

Despite arriving "reasonably" early: 10ish, I missed out on buying ticktes for SQUARE-ENIX's closed theatre.  Am kicking myself, since those trailers would have been killer.  But since it took me just over 2 hours to get here, there was no way I was waking up any earlier than I have to on a weekend.  But still!  New Kingdom Hearts games/trailers!  And I want a release date for FF7AC: Complete NOW!  Heh, and soon, if not already, they will be released/leaked onto the Net where I can watch them over and over again obessessively!

I iz ded.  A life-sized chocobo!  And it poses!  And waddles and flaps and gah!

They were also showcasing future model releases for this year which included new Kingdom Hearts ones, larger scaled Cloud and Sephiroth, new FF7AC ones, some other SQUARE game characters.  But the one that really caught my eye was the RedXIII and Cait Sidth one.  This one is definately going to be added to my collection!  Bwah, too cute.  And I really need to make a trip to the official SQUARE store in Tokyo [but it is only open on weekends, huh!?!?]!

A life sized Roxas!  I wished they had life-sized version of Sora, Riku and Kairi.  But Roxas is a darling, and I really do have a soft spot for him, so yay!  And I want his shoes!

Typical, the day which lets you try the new Kingdom Hearts games has to be the day that I don't go >_<.  Oh well, I don't really mind waiting...  But I did manage to snag a SQUARE postcard set and two CD SQUARE music samplers.  Heh.  Spent a small fortune at the shop - I've recently gotten into a T-shirt buying stage [gonna blame that on live concerts].  But the Shinra badge was worth it.  And when will SQUARE release a Rufus and Turks game.  I wanna be Rufus and send my Turks to bully Cloud and co.  HEH.  And be all bratty and power-mad.  HEH.
