like the thing is I REALLY REALLY want to spend a year abroad and while I'm happy I'm applying to Oxford for a year, I still kind of want to keep it as an option. EXCEPT that if I stayed for an extra semester I could change my major to English or at least have more fun academically so IDKIDKIDK I JUST LIKE. REALLY WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE IN THE UK OR NYC. BUT I MIGHT BE ABLE TO PUT IT OFF UNTIL GRADUATION. I think (nay, know) that Lyss will slit my throat in my sleep if I decide to go to Italy over Oxford.
I think if you're really worried about the friend thing St. Andrews would be a great place to be, because it's very much a university town with a campus & a huge international student population. Also Craig Davis told me that he knew some girls who were very happy at Glasgow so there's that too. It'd be nice to have the two options (city. vs. town)
St. Andrews is on the coast:
prettyyyy.
shit now i am looking at pictures of the uk and omfg it's so pretty. WHY.
idk what to tell you about the english major part, how much do you really want to change your major? because if you want to, how hard will it be credit wise to do it? idkidk can you apply to do a year at glasgow? do you want to spend the year in italy or have you let professors/parents pressure you into it? IDKIDKIDK WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT? (not that i could answer this)
why would lyss kill you for going to italy tho?
and i'm sure i'll make friends and stuff, it's just a really big thing to be doing alone and it makes my brain go IEGES;R[AL'ELSLS whenever i think about it :x
lol tbqh I think I just really really love English and was egotistically destroyed (a blow to a Slytherin) by Chinese History. FUUU, DAN GARDNER. I don't think it'd be worth the bother. It's just with the year in Italy I have to take Latin, 2 asian history classes and a not asia/europe history class so my senior year is gonna be meh. idek if i can do a theis :/
My reasons for Italy is basically because I KNOW I'm going to end up in the UK later in life so I feel like I should explore elsewhere. Plus I really want to be fluent in a foreign language and since I'm not taking off for India to learn Hindi, may as well finish up Italian! my brain is not working.
BUT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE TALKING ABOUT YOU. most people we know loved study abroad though I've heard about people being lonely in London. i really think you'd have the time of your life - not always a good time (ofc) with a hard transition but it would seriously make you grown up and mature and etc. not that you aren't that already but i've heard it makes you very sophisticated. kind of. then again hannah sherril was still a super bitch when she got back from florence so maybe it doesn't totally awesomeify you. i think if you did it, you'd really feel like you conquered the world and could do anything ♥
except take bradley from me.
again i wouldn't let the money issue be TOO big of a deal, nor let your parents pressure you too much (don't be like me...). what does your heart tell you? all you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you. an hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down but it is not this day. this day we talk about study abroad!
fuck you don't make me cry at 2am with your inspiration and your A+ usage of lotr quotes
I don't even want to think about Chinese History or any of my grades from last semester because it was seriously made of fail. And that senior year doesn't sound like fun although if I double major mine will be horrible as well (omg i need to declare fml). If you feel that Italy would be a good place for you for the year then you should definitely apply because we know the smith program is excellent and I'm sure it would be so fun etc etc
I'm sure I'd love study abroad if I did it so I need to have a srs bns talk with my parents or something idk. and hanna sherril just an exception i'm sure lmao
