I like candles.

And, apparantly, yellow things.

The candle and the oil lamp in the foreground were bought by Kelli and myself during the "Getting Fucked Over, Power-Company Style" power outage in November of ought- 6, when our landlord decided she was a crusty hippie who would damn the man and fight the power ... by refusing to pay our electric bill (you can bet she was paying hers). In November. Where, typically in the Midwest, there was snow and ice on the ground. Of course, we did not realize she was doing this until we'd returned from class one day to find the lights out in our house and a curt note on our door from the Electric Bastards informing us that since the bills hadn't been paid, we could kindly go freeze and die in a gutter.

We were without heat or electricity for 2 days. That was long enough, thank you very much.

Lucky for us, Michael's had a massive candle sale. So we lit our wooden house with candles and hoped that the four klutzes of the apocalypse (the four roomates, myself included) wouldn't burn our house down by tripping over our own feet and doing a face plant into burning wax.

The picture in the background is an etching from Prague, that I bought from a street vendor on the Karlov most. In my mind, Prague is a very warm colored city, filled with golden, yellow and cream colors. So when I saw this image, I had to have it.  I have hundreds of photos of what Prague actually looked like, so if I'm purchasing a piece of art, I might as well try to find something that represents the feeling more to me.
