Okay so I did the unthinkable and applied to a rating community a few days ago...I know, I know, believe me I've always questioned the notion.but out of sheer curiousity and noticing that(for an 'ethnic' community) the standards were more like: "have some white blood in you and you have grrrrreat chances of getting in." In other words, I noticed a

for real, I wish I pointed that out. Africans have a variety of skin tones and it's NOT because they marry outside their race(shoot we are most endogamous people).West Africa alone boasts of different types of cultures and people. Not to talk of the East, South and North. Ethiopians were not colonized(and I doubt that they intermarried) but some of them have loose curly hair and cooper toned skin.
People have so much/need to learn about us. Because in reality we know so much about everybody else whereas they know so little about us. It's just sad.
But yea... that all mixed up guy is on some crack. Now I see why he gave me an ethusiastic "NO." I'm "too black." That's fine, but I really do think that he should get kicked out of the community because he's not following the ideals that the comm was based on.
the dude is on pure crack lol. He is so obviously proud of his mixed heritage for wrong reasons(really, why would you question someone's heritage if you didn't see it as some sort of 'priviledge'?)from what I get, his standard for beauty is a bit disturbing...arrggh just thinking about it makes my skin crawl.
I don't claim to be mixed. I'm black and African for that matter, even my Dad will tell you that he is black....
anyway there's a community called in_the_mix if you're interested (I know yet another one :p)...but the mod seems really cool. that allmixup kid is there but I bet they will ban him anytime soon, I'm just watching. lol
take care lind
PEACE.

I think I've decided that it's best to let individual people decide for themselves what they want to identify with. If I were you personally I would most likely find myself identifying with being mixed, but then again who knows...so much of what we identify with is determined by what kind of experience society allows us to have. And, the fact that I am light-skinned and have been mistaken to be any and everything under the sun probably has a lot to do with how I've come to identify myself. In any case, however you choose to see yourself is not only alright with me, but it actually has nothing to do with me, because it's YOU!. hehe.
You're a cool gal daisy! I love how you always pave the way for such interesting discussions.
Oh and by the way, lovelylind, I saw you in melanin and thought you were just stunning.
