I think it was Brian who said I don't have luck with cars. So my check engine light is no longer on. The guy told me my mass air flow sensor was gunked up. So they cleaned, which was a no-no 5 years ago, but they encourage it now. The part is $300 in my car, $900 in Toyotas etc. So no fun to replace. Anyway, we figured we'd try the cleaning, and it seems to be working, especially since the car runs fine, always did. However, I thought, no check engine light, now's the time to get that inspection!
I went over, inspection done, and full of FAIL!!!!!
Why??? Because clearing the check engine light clears away the data for the emissions test. I have to drive it around for a few days to build up more info in the car's computer. Soooooo, and extra $11 dollards and gas money later I will get to see if my car passes. MEH!!!!
Oh, and the cleaning isn't a guaranteed thing. The mass air flow sensor could still n eed to be replaced in a while. ARHG ARGH
