Heath Ledger, dead? Really?
That's such a strange thing to hear. The first I read of it, I instantly called shenanigans due to the fact that I read it on TMZ or some other bullshit website. Once it was showing up all over the internet, on Digg, and then on (dare I say) more legitimate TV news shoes, I knew it must be true.
What a shock. I'm not huge into the whole Hollywood scene and tend not to really get into caring about celeb's lives, but this really bothers me a little bit.
I grew up watching Heath Ledger act- and dang, he has always been a cute Australian boy with a cute accent and a wicked cute smile.
From 10 Things I Hate About You to A Knight's Tale, The Patriot to Brokeback Mountain, I've always thought he was a great actor; and he always seemed to be one of the down-to-earth types. He never came off as an asshole celeb and I never thought of him as indulging in the Hollywood party scene.
It's sad to see someone like that die so young and under such tragic circumstances. Apparently they're thinking he overdosed on a combination of prescription and over the counter sleeping pills. I really hope it wasn't intentional- he had so much going for him and was such a highly respected actor. He has a movie coming out soon- the next installment of the re-done Batman series. I wonder how they are going to handle that? What is the protocol on accidental deaths just before a movie's release?
I know he has a very young daughter, and it's all very sad.
