Adam Pascal is in talks to reprise his role in the big screen version of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Rent
Pascal would play Roger Davis, a struggling musician who is HIV-positive. The role earned him an Obie as well as Tony and Drama Desk nominations.
Tracie Thoms also has joined the cast with director Chris Columbus in talks to reunite the rest of the original Broadway cast.

Rosario Dawson has landed a role in Rent for director Chris Columbus in the adaptation of Tony-winning play written by Jonathan Larson, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Dawson will play Mimi Marquez, the Latina stripper afflicted with AIDS and a drug problem. She is the only actor that did not feature in the play cast, as the original cast are currently in talks to star, these consist of Taye Diggs, Jesse L. Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel.
Production is planned to start in the spring.

According to director Chris Columbus, Justin Timberlake is in talks to star in a big-screen version of the muscial Rent.
"There is a role for a pop star who can really sing, and Justin is dying to do it," he told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Columbus says he wants Timberlake to work for the role. "I'm making everyone take screen tests, including Justin," Columbus said. "I've been obsessed with the play for years. It's the best musical ever. I also feel the message is really important in today's world."
Columbus is currently working on a script and hopes to start filming this fall in New York City and San Francisco.
