The Poker chronicles. Entry 3
Tuesday, April 26th. The Smittie home game.
6:50 PM-
I arrived as scheduled, ready to play. I had spend money on gas and food,dinner sunday night, lunch on monday and tuesday, and went out to dinner for steak with B-Ha monday night. Bought some supplies for the house, I had pissed away roughly 60 of My 260, and was down to 200. And.. thats ok! I had not touched any of my paycheck, this system was going ok so far!
I paid for my brother to play tonight and paid my own way in. Over all I wasnt happy with the way I played. I lost early and had to re buy in. My brother couldnt pay me back any of the stake money as he busted out after a couple hours. My friend that I play with Jim, hit a Royal Flush, but his luck wasnt totally there as he had lost earlier and had to buy in twice. He finished the night up only 13 bucks. Its a nickle dime quarter type game to start out, but gets bigger as people bust out and go home or cash out and go home. In the end it was down to me, Pe and Nate. I loosened up my starting hands and my play style. I became aggressive raising pre flop everytime. I took the blinds many times. Used trap plays and build up a few bucks, Busted nate out and he re bought in Pe left shortly after midnight. Nate and I played heads up and after trading the same few dollars for about 30 minutes, he wasnt catching the hands...
Untill pre flop he bet out 1 dollar, big blind at this point was simply 50 cents, I thought about my play, senseing his fustration and thinking he had two over cards, I re raised him to two, hopeing he would come over the top and go all in. I had him covered, in chips and if I lost I would stop playing and still be a lil up. I bet the raise, and he thought for a second, said All in.. I called quickly. he revealed his A-K off, and I showed him my 9-9. Pretty much a race. I felt for him because he had rebought in several times and was now in for a total of 70. Hes another solid player and difficult to read, but tonight had just plain flat out played poorly. The flop came J- 9- 9 . I flopped the nuts and the game was over, we didnt even turn the 4th or 5th streets. I won about 50 bucks total, putting me back up to about 250. Pissed away about 50 of it food, candy, gas etc etc. and Im sittin at about 200. My goal is to not drop below the original 100. I plan to leave work tonight around 6, be on the tables at about 8 play for about 3 hours maybe 4. I should be in bed by 1 am. we will see how I do.
