Give my regards to Broadway

Man I wish I lived in New York right now. (I console myself that it's 37º F in New York with a chance of rain. It's 60ºF and breezy in Santa Barbara and I'm just fine in my T-shirt and blazer. If I do end up studying abroad in the UK, the main thing I fear is the weather!) But still, why I want to be in New York this week:

A new revival of South Pacific (my favorite Rodgers and Hammerstein musical) starring Kelli O'Hara and Paulo Szot opens tonight! In fact, it's probably going on as I write this (5 pm Pacific time). This will certainly tour so I'll probably see it when it reaches LA, yay.

April 8 marks the opening of a limited run of Patrick Stewart in Macbeth at the Lyceum. This is a transfer from Brooklyn Academy of Music. The production is directed by Rupert Goold, who's spinning it Stalin!Macbeth. Interesting!

Currently running that I want to see: New rivival of Tennessee William's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad, and Anika Noni Rose.

New revival of Gypsy, starring PATTI LUPONE. *flails* The critics have just about handed her the Tony right now.

I really really hope PBS's Great Performances films at least one of these; preferably Macbeth. Because then I could compare and contrast with the 1979 Ian McKellen/Judi Dench version and be a happy RSC fangirl.
