I don't see what's so good about Brokeback Mountain, other than the prospect of two typically fawned after male actors engaging in sexual activities. Heath Ledger is nigh incomprehensible with his mumble and cowboy drawl, and Jake Gyllenhaal seems to lack any purpose other than having gay sex with Ledger. For 134 minutes, they just elope to their sanctuary that is Brokeback Mountain, and leave their respective families in shambles. Is there a point? Is that the point? Is the film denouncing homophobia? Is it promoting gay cowboys? Maybe it's romanticizing the attraction between two people, stressing the tagline Love Is A Force Of Nature. Everyone's talking about it, but I don't see what's so amazing about it. Certainly, the homosexuality is a new element, but that's all. Huzzah for shock value, I suppose. I mean, it made me watch it...
Ennis, girls don't fall in love with fun!
