So I had this idea for a Legend of Zelda themed team for PBR because I wanted to make a "Link" or "Zelda" avatar so I threw together this team and I was looking for constructive criticism or comments on it. This is more themed on the series as a whole rather than one individual game.
It is designed for singles battle.
Pokemon: Crobat
Nickname: Keese
Nature: Timid
Item: Black Sludge
Ability: Inner Focus (default)
EVs: 252 SPD, 252 HP, 6 SPEC ATK
Moves:
Taunt
Hypnosis/Tailwind?
Air Slash
Super Fang
Notes: Lovingly ripped from Smogon, I decided to with Air Slash even with the lower power due to the flinch chance and with Super Fang dealing most of the damage I'm not too concerned. Disruption is the key, this guy will likely be my lead hopefully shutting down the SR users which will plague this team. No Roost because I'm a maverick who occasionally rejects convention! I was wondering if I should sub Tailwind for Hypnosis because Taunt basically does what Hypnosis is there for only with more accuracy. Plus this team needs it's Speed?
Pokemon: Octillery
Nickname: Octorok
Nature: Timid
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Sniper (chosen over Suction Cups)
EVs: 252 SPEC ATK, 252 SPD, 6 HP
Moves:
Water Spout
Energy Ball
Flamethrower/Ice Beam?
Surf
Notes: Revenge Killer taken directly from Smogon. Though I disagree with the choice of Ice Beam. Granted he won't be able to do a thing against Dragons without it, but I see the possibility of really killing Steels like Scizor and/or Skarmory more of a priority due to lack of Fire on this team. This thing is so frequently used on TR teams no one will likely expect a CS set. WS is deadly on anything fragile that doesn't resist.
Pokemon: Granbull
Nickname: Moblin
Nature: Impish
Item: Brightpowder/Chople Berry/Quick Claw
Ability: Intimidate (chosen over Quick Feet)
EVs: 252 HP, 252 DEF,
Moves:
Crunch
Seismic Toss (3rd gen MT)
Thunder Wave/Reflect?
Heal Bell
Notes: Hurray for team support! Since Granbull isn't there for damage, I modified this set from Smogon's suggestions to better suit the team's needs. Heal Bell is wonderful and since certain members of this team would love T-Wave support (Gallade and Octillery) it's there to help them. Seismic Toss does nice even damage to everything except Ghosts, which Crunch is there for. No glaring weaknesses or advantages intended, he's there to help the rest of the team compensate for their weaknesses. No idea what to give it item-wise, everyone else needs what I would normally give it.
Pokemon: Sceptile
Nickname: Dinolfos
Nature: Jolly
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Overgrow (default)
EVs: 129 HP, 129 SPEC ATK, 252 SPD
Moves:
Leaf Storm/Energy Ball
Counter (3rd gen MT)
Endeavor
Quick Attack
Notes: NOT stolen from Smogon, Sceptile is the linchpin of the team with an unconventional moveset, possibly taking down 1-3 opponents in rapid sucession if you're lucky. Counter is a rarely seen 3rd gen MT move which will turn those Flare Blitz/Brave Birds/U-Turns back to their source. Then at low HP you have an Overgrow-boosted Grass move or Endeavor to choose from. If you choose the latter and are lucky to still be alive, Quick Attack for an easy win. I'm partial to Leaf Storm but I could be convinced to change it to Energy Ball, I don't want to use Grass Knot because I'm not using this team in a specific tier. Priority moves are obviously a concern. Ghosts are a big concern when using this moveset, Gengar in particular.
Pokemon: Gallade
Nickname: Darknut
Nature: Calm/Impish
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Steadfast (default)
EVs: 252 HP, 129 ATK, 129 SPEC DEF
Moves:
Bulk Up
Shadow Sneak
Drain Punch
Ice Punch
Notes: Hurray gimmick movesets! This can actually work out amazingly well or blow up completely in my face. After a Bulk Up (preferably two) Gallade is able to support itself on the field against a wide variety of opponents, healing with Drain Punch (DP's low PP is an issue though). Shadow Sneak finishes off FS users nicely, while Ice Punch gives us SOME Dragon insurance. There are a lot of EV/nature variations on this moveset, this is just what I use. Not good against a heavy physical assault at all until it gets going but it can take special hits fairly well with Calm and a SPEC DEF EV investment. Does NOT like status at all, especially BRN.
Pokemon: Gyarados
Nickname: River Zora
Nature: Adamant
Item: Focus Sash/Wacan Berry
Ability: Intimidate (default)
EVs: 252 ATK, 252 SPD, 6 HP
Moves:
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Flail
Earthquake
Notes: We have a team weakness to Electricity, so Gyarados isn't even going to pretend otherwise. Ideally we have the Focus Sash making sure you are able to Dragon Dance once and survive an Electric attack, at which point barring Electrode you should outspeed the Electric type for a KO with EQ (or Flail if it's Zapdos). Nothing really special here other than a Focus Sash/Flail combo. Wacan Berry is in case you can't double on Sashes for him and Sceptile.
