the teachers need some action too
"kang oh hyuk"
she whispers his name to herself in the privacy of the bathroom. she knows that she is alone because class is in session. she's the only teacher with a free period.
though she's alone, the bathroom is technically public to all female students. technically, anyone could walk in. anyone could hear her breathing kang sunsaeng's name to herself in the confines of her stall. anyone.
no one does, of course. but the thrill of just saying kang oh hyuk's name aloud makes kyung jin short of breath. her heart beats off kilter.
what would her father think? as principal of kirin high, no doubt he'd have to enforce the rule that teachers cannot date one another. surely...
and what would all the other teachers think? she had been the one to desperately push kang sunsaeng out of the school initially. she had been so cold, so cut-throat. she had been so blind back then.
she sighs deeply just one more time. before leaving the stall, she straightens her suit, readjusts her skirt, and makes sure that the handkerchief she's been inhaling for the last five minutes is tucked inside her purse. the initials embroidered on the corner of the handkerchief read KOH. half of her wants to belittle him. who keeps an initialed handkerchief these days? but the other half of her revels in the romantic light that it sheds on kang sunsaeng.
she exits the stall, washes her hands, and checks her make-up in the mirror. her cheeks are looking a little flushed. and her lipstick definitely needs reapplying. she does so and presses her lips together.
finally, she brushes off any rogue that strays off her lip line with her pinky. her lipstick color reads: "creamy raspberry". she briefly wonders if kang sunsaeng would like this color, how kang sunsaeng would look with this color smudged on his cheek.
she exits the bathroom, heels clacking purposefully on the tile of the floor. her head tosses a little as she pushes her bangs out of her eyes. and within that brief second when she's not looking straight in front of her, she collides with someone.
no, correction. someone collides into her. she wrinkles her brows in annoyance.
"please watch where you're..."
but the words die off her tongue because it's a familiar scent. a series of images flashes in her head: the handkerchief and the initials KOH.
she looks up.
"i'm so, so sorry shi sunsaeng-nim. i really wasn't looking where i was going. and i..."
it's yang sunsaeng, looking as frightening as ever.
"look" she tells him, cutting his words off decisively. "it's alright, yang sunsaeng-nim. please just make sure it doesn't happen again."
and she walks off, annoyed, flustered, and all out of sorts because of that stupid cologne.
she pauses.
looking back, she asks, "yang sunsaeng-nim. your cologne..."
"oh! this? was it offensive? i'm sorry. i slept over at kang sunsaeng's house the night before and this was all he had, so..."
"i see" she tells him. "have a nice day."
she walks off, leaving a spluttering yang sunsaeng behind her. she makes note to research the brand of the cologne. and as she smiles to herself, she contemplates buying a bottle of it for herself.
