95 hours last week, 85 the week before that, and of course 60s (not counting the bus ride, which I am now counting, also not counting homework, which I am now counting) during schoool, which runs 6 days a week.
It's rough out here, I won't lie. There's a dreadful lot to assimilate. We had a company dinner with our instructor where I think I was the lightest-drinking one (at three and a half shots, all correctly slammed) but managed to come out of it urbane, civilized, and well-behaved, in sharp contrast to increasing sloppiness of my fellows (several of whom had been 'pregaming' before the event).
For the record, that's the most I've ever drunk. It didn't really even get me buzzed, just gave me a mild headache for an hour or two the next morning. I find that a single shot is sufficient for that warmth and a small bit of acting like a normal, socializing, starting-conversations human being, thus implying that I am perpetually knurd (
http://wiki.lspace.org/wiki/Knurd) which explains a great deal.
Other than that there's not much to report. I have plenty of ideas for the Nano, I just question if I'll have time to express them. My flight back I've already booked for December 1st, one day after class finishes, and the poor Canadian in our class has already gotten transferred to another district after he's done--but one closer to a major civilization center (Edmonton instead of Grand Prairie) so he's not complaining much.
It's interesting to be forced through adverse circumstances with one's peers and makes me better understand boot camp. As well as being grateful that, past 30, that will no longer be an option for me. My classmates seem to feel that I will move quickly up the hierarchy, with one who knows me decently putting up $500 on me being VP track within 5 years and my former roommate backing him.
I don't know if I'm worth the bet, but I do know that my field expiration date is 40 or earlier because I can't keep doing this forever.
I miss the people I socialize with by /choice/, though, my god I do, every time I see my contact list.
