God, Islands are soooo fucking good. I don't know why I put off listening to this band for so long but I'm totally in love with them now. I feel like I have this really deep connection with them-I feel like we're essentially trying to do/say the same thing. Return to the Sea is just an all around near perfect album. Cadence Weapon is also siqq, I can really get behind almost everything he is about. I feel like I may quickly becoming the embodiment of pitchforkmedia but I just love music too much!!!
Things are pretty great in my life right now! I have a wonderful girlfriend, we've been having great adventures, I've finally found someone who loves browses record stores and eating sushi as much as I do. I'm writing songs pretty profusely, they're all really strange pop songs but they really fit what I've been trying to do lately. I feel like I'm sort of brimming with ideas as of current.
Last night I played an interesting show, it had the potential to be disastarous but thanks to vast amounts of band members from the SA music scene coming out it proved to come across as something of a vaudevillian event. Joe and Erik played with me which made for joy, Erik said he had a lot of ideas for me which could mean any number of things. I'm kind of hoping it's an invitation to officially join Buttercup-I've been moonlighting with them for quite some time and it's been mentioned as a possibility before but we'll see where it goes!
I am very excited to see that Bill Baird finally has his next record out and it sounds pretty incredible, he went an entirely different route with it and I think it works incredibly well. I even play violin on a track! EXCITEMENT>. I need to get with him on practicing now that I finally have time to do stuff like that again.
