Character Name: Iris
Character Series: Pokémon Best Wishes! / Pokémon: Black and White (anime)
Character Age: At this point, it is unknown, but I will believe she is around 10-14 years old.
Background:
Bulbapedia!
Personality:
The first thing that you need to know about Iris's personality is that it is highly based on her hometown as well as her dream. Being born in a town where there are a lot of Dragon Masters as well as Dragon Trainers. Which is why her dream is to become the ultimate Dragon Master, just like many others in her hometown are.
Iris is known as a 'wild child' due to the fact that she swings on vines, keeps a Pokémon in her hair, and eats berries or fruit as her meals (prior to meeting Cilan, of course!). She's also quite the adventurer, and is hardly afraid of anything. Okay - I lied. Even though she is afraid of Pokémon who can harm her and her Pokémon, most of the time, she will not show it on her face, instead being the brave and bold one (unless, of course, it really is scary, then she will show her true colors).
She is also quite sarcastic most of the time, calling Ash 'a kid', and in fact, that is her catchphrase in both the English and Japanese versions of the anime, being, "You're such a kid~!" However, even though she says this, she contradicts herself, for she too, is 'just a kid'. In several of Ash's gym battles, she judges him for the type of Pokémon that he uses against his opponent, especially if it has a type disadvantage. She has a high amount of knowledge about Pokémon, knowing what certain moves can do to a certain Pokémon, or even, her own team (such as Volt Change and Attract), but even with this knowledge, she is still a bit unsure about her own Pokémon team.
Why?
It's because her Axew could not perfect its Dragon Rage, and is really weak (though then again, it is a baby) - and is not too great on battle skills, but Iris herself is okay with it. Even though Ash tells her that they should go on a faster pace when it comes to training her Pokémon, Iris herself says that since she Axew is just a baby (and her Excadrill doesn't even listen to her), she will take it one step at a time, going at her own -- as well as her Pokémon's own pace.
Iris is also a quick thinker at times. She saved Ash from falling into the hot water, and when she battled Bianca using her new Emolga, she knew just what to do.
However, that's not all. Iris also tends to squish cute Pokémon, especially in the earlier episodes. When she first met Ash's Pikachu, she called it cute, started hugging and playing with it and in turn, got shocked. She has a tendency of fangirling over any cute Pokémon - other examples being Ash's Oshawott and Tepig as well as the Emolga that she captured later on.
Even though she's not as naive as Ash, she does have a hint of naivety in her - as seen during the episode after she caught Emolga, trying to tell her friends (specifically it was Ash, Cilan and Bianca) that Emolga did not do anything wrong and how could you blame a crime on her poor, poor Pokémon.
Iris, being a 'wild child' can also avoid danger when Ash and Cilan couldn't. She's quite athletic, which allows her to climb trees and jump pretty far.
Even though at first she was unsure about her Pokémon team, now as both Axew and her grow together, she is becoming more confident as a trainer and as a person.
Abilities: Iris has several abilities that no ordinary trainer has. She has a very high sixth sense which allows her to feel the presence of spirits and other Pokémon. Her five senses are also more heightened than an ordinary person's --- she can smell when it's raining and can hear things that a normal person would usually ignore. She can also see things from a pretty far distance as well. Also, she is able to sense where the wind blows.
