i haven't decided what movie to show, so i will give you...the audience the choice to vote which movie.
here are the movies that i'm planning to show:
Hirokazu Koreeda's "After Life" (1999): At a way station somewhere between heaven and earth, the newly dead are greeted by guides. Over the next three days, they will help the dead sift through their memories to find the one defining moment of their lives. The chosen moment will be recreated on film and taken with them when the dead pass on to heaven. This grave, beautifully-crafted film reveals the surprising ambiguous consequences of human recollection. (in japanese with english subtitles)
Danny Boyle's "Trainspotting" (1996): Sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, this is the lifestyle of five scotsman. Their livestyles are fueled by their heroin addiction as they try to survive the real world. Ewan McGregor stars in this film in one of his breakthrough roles. (in english)
"Last King of Scotland": It's the 1970s and Dr. Nicholas Garrigan left his home in the highlands for Uganda. Unlikely circumstances eventually got Garrigan to become Ugandan dictator Idi Amin's personal doctor. Forrest Whittaker in his award-winning role as Amin is worth the view. (in english)
Park Chan-Wook's "Oldboy": In Park Chan-Wook's international breakthrough film, our hero Oh Dae-Su gets imprisoned for fifteen years without knowing the reason why he ended up there in the first place. after he's free, he sets out on sweet revenge while he explores the reason why he was imprisoned for all those years.
