35 Black

There has been a lot of death around this past week. Puppy's brother died in a work accident, my friend Cary's boyfriend died in a snowboarding accident, and Elisabeth's mother in law nearly died and is in the hospital with stage 3 lymphoma. So we planned a little Indiana trip to have some fun and see some friends. Dima had vouchers for free buffets, cookware, and bets at the Horseshoe so we drove to Indiana and met up with Puppy for lunch. He was so excited to see me and it really brightened his spirits. We headed over to the casino afterwards and decided to have our buffets first. I ate a ton and had a pecan pie. SUGAR! I've been eating little bits of sugar and bread for the last two weeks. I can't eat it like I used to and don't crave it. Most the stuff I've tried has just tasted gross to me and waaaaaayyyy to sweet. I've effectively retrained my taste buds and eating habits. We took a long time just enjoying our food and 35 black just popped into my head. So I blurted it out and asked if that was baccarat or roulette. He said roulette and asked if I knew if 35 was black. I didn't it's just what popped in my head. We go over to a roulette table with only one guy playing at it and he can only use his voucher on the side bets, so I tell him put it on black. He puts $10 on 35 black and she spins the wheel. I stare at the little ball for a moment completely detached from the situation. It hits!!! We win $350 with one bet and I say ok let's go. Everyone is floored and I just say I told you. We tip the dealer the free voucher money which we also one and cash out and split it. It's weird I didn't really feel any excitement, I just knew it was going to hit. I am pretty detached from external stimuli lately which for the most part is good, but I don't get as excited and happy as I used to about stuff. I also don't get the crushing lows and crazy anxiety. Life seems a lot more midline. Is this a part of reaching a medium mid age? It's not bad necessarily but also a little less exciting. 35 black.
