First of all, I'm so glad I got to be a part of this. I'm so proud of both you guys--this is such an amazing accomplishment. You wrote a fic, a long one, that reads like a novel, and the blending of two authors is seamless. I love you both, and I'm so impressed!!!!
I like the name--simple and fitting, and the reference to the Phoenix legend is appropriate for the story. I like the way this ties into one of the main themes in the show--fire and demons, without actually using any of the myths from the show.
I liked the ties that the boys had to Jacob--the loss of their mothers, the baby brother, the recurring fires, and the issue of having to deal with a supernatural 'power' that's terrifying and unique.
The dialogue and characterization was exactly right--I can hear Dean and Sam talking, and that makes the fic such a fast read (one reason I was able to quickly beta, lol). So much was Dean and Sam--Dean's resistance to it being the YED, his senstivity toward Jacob's issues because they paralleled Sam's. I loved that Dean was defensive of anyone going after Jacob, and protective of him, due to his issues with Sam's abilities and his ties to the YED.
I loved that Jacob learned to control it somewhat, and that it was left unresolved in many ways, with no perfect wrap up, sort of like the boys' and their issues. And the knife, and the basketball was so sweet, and just perfect, bc the boys are like that! !!!!!
It's just got such a great plot, and I'm still amazed! :)
Thank you so much again for beta-ing, my dear! You were an absolute star, and we appreciate it so much! You made a huge contribution to the fic and really improved it, so thank you so much. *loves on you* <33333
This was our first time collaborating, as I think we probably mentioned, so I am so gleeful it worked well and there weren't obvious author switches or anything, as that was important to me. :D And I'm really pleased the boys were in-character and you liked the dialogue. \0/
Thanks for all your lovely comments and all your awesome help, my dear! <333
Thank you so, so much for betaing. As you know by now, Cal and I are unbelievably anal about editing, and it was awesome to have a beta we trusted so much. There were so many times when we angsted over something, and the would reassure each other by pointing out that you would flag it if it was an issue. You improved the fic in so many ways, as Cal says - it really wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without your input.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and that our collaboration worked well.
Thank you for all your lovely comments *glees* and your brilliant help, darling! Call on us anytime if we can do anything in return <333333
