I picked up a new bike on Saturday (2007 Norco Scrambler). It's a really nice bike and rides really well. I realized a little too late that my current bike rack doesn't fit on the new bike due to the disc brakes. And my front fender won't fit due to the suspension for the shocks. And my lock holders don't fit on the frame due to the different shape/size (1 of the 3 fits). So, I've been backpacking while riding. I remember all too well now the reason I love the panniers (side packs).
There's only one thing that really annoys me about the bike. On Tuesday (second day of riding it), two of the teeth on the largest chain wheel broke off. So, I'm going to have to take it back and get that bit replaced. I'm thinking of seeing if I can pay extra to have it replaced with an extra strong one instead of a straight replacement. I also plan to pick up a new rack and fender at the same time so it's not all bad.
I've also found a good place to drop off my old bike. The place takes in bikes and repairs them to either give away to need families or sell them to help fund the charity program. I'm going to see if they want my old rack and front fender as well (which I'm sure they'll accept).
