On Kink Shaming

Do you realize how internal kink-shaming is?

When you skim a kink meme, you see tons and tons of prompts with things like “I feel so bad for posting this,” or “Here’s my ticket to special hell.”

Here’s a tip for stopping kink-shaming: Don’t kink-shame yourself.

If we participate in the social trend of rating some kinks as “better” or “worse” than others, of shaming kinks, and of feeling embarrassed for enjoying our kinks, this trend will never end.

There is no need for judgement. As long as nobody’s getting hurt, there is no reason to participate in the judging (and shaming) of kinks.

Like what you like, love what you love.

Prompt all the kinky prompts you want to prompt! But try to avoid placing judgement on yourself while talking about your kinks. Because if the people whose minds we wish to change perceive that we are ashamed of our own kinks, why would they ever stop thinking our kinks are shameful?
