Marching Band 08 Second Parade

Dec 09, 2008 19:23

I don't see why I didn't post this earlier. Last Saturday was a Christmas themed parade that the band and guard, Briellesabop and the chorus participated in. What was unique about this parade as compared to others is that the street we marched down was wide enough for us to have a show on. So all last week, we learned how to play the theme from The Grinch and had a rather interesting show.
Saturday, we were asked to show up at the school 6 hours prior to leaving for the parade. This was in order to have a pretty good Christmas party. A holiday themed CD was playing as we entered a weirdly decorated band room. All around the room were lights and tinsel, while in the back were green and red transparency paper. Up in front was similar to the back, on the dry-erase board was a very well drawn picture featuring Rudolph, the dental elf, the polkka dot elephant from misfit island, Santa, and some other elves; alongside, a Christmas tree with handmade and store bought ornaments.
And then, there was sweets. Cookies, brownies, more cookies, cupcakes, NOG, choco milk, root beer, cola, and other stuff.
During the party, we were allowed to decorate our instruments (mine looked like junk as compared to everybody elses) and we held a contest for it. There was also this secret Santa, which I did not participate in, in which some awesome $10 and under gifts were given.
