Jared must have read Being a Serious Rock Artist for Dummies. He's doing what Jeff Buckley was doing. He's too pretty, and he wants to be taken seriously as a musician and not be a pretty boy singing. Although Jeff remained good looking - in a different way - even with the horrid black, greasy hair. Jared just... tries to cover it and fails.

Yeah, well, when you take into account his previous attempts at facial hair, it makes sense that he'd be willing to go to extremes.

That hair and beard do not deserve anything as boring as a pristine suit like that - all he actually needs is denim overalls and a solid coating of Louisiana mud! :D

But, but, but... the suit by itself would be bad enough! It's a horrible, horrible faded salmony colour. And totally the wrong cut for the preppy layered look that he's attepmting here. *ahem*

Actually, I think the denim overalls would work, if, you know, he was preparing for a role. Or something. As a hillbilly. Or something.
