Chapter 3 Notes: First of all, I apologise for the abruptness of this final chapter, It would have been longer if I wasn't in a rut right now .____.; It may not live up to expectations, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. :D
“Yamashita Kun?”
Shige had been knocking at the door for the past half an hour. He had been knocking even though he never expected a reply.
“Yamashita kun…” Shige pleaded.
“Yamapi, please open up.”
The door clicked silently open but the chain continued to be latched on. Yamapi peeked through the door and Shige was surprised at how red those eyes were. Did he even sleep that night?
“What’s up, Shige?”
“Can I come in?”
“Ryo Chan’s in here.” Yamapi lied, not blinking. Shige winced. Yamapi had never lied to him before.
“Can I come in?” Shige was insisting.
“No, you can’t.”
For the first time in his life, the door was slammed in Shige’s face and he didn’t even feel angry about it. He sat down on the steps before the front door and began to sing, one song after another. Random songs of which he had long forgotten the lyrics. Yamapi sat against the door on the other side, soothed by the wordless lullabies as he drifted in and out of a dreamless sleep.
They fell asleep leaning against each other that night, a door between them to provide support. Shige found himself on Yamapi’s bed the next morning. He rolled himself in the familiar covers and the comforting smell of the other boy’s cologne. It’s been so long since he had been so close to any form of his presence, he started to cry, not really for any reason, just hoping that Yamapi would just appear before him and tell him that everything was going to be okay. But the house was empty and would probably stay that way for as long as he was there.
Where was Yamapi right now?
That day he waited, till day turned to night, he waited. Just for a small conversation he waited. He just needed to explain himself but there was really no sufficient explanation. What could he ever say? What would take away the pain?
He had no words left. A song without its lyrics.

Yamapi enjoyed taking walks. It was something that even Shige couldn’t understand but it was a simple concept to him. While his legs continued moving, while the wind continued blowing, the world consisted only of the road he walked on. The rest of the world belongs to the rest of the people and so did the pressure. It was just him, the rhythm of his feet tapping against the granite and the cool breeze that nipped his cheek as he walked, away from his house on the road that had an unknown end.
There are times when you needed to be alone, not really to think, but just to be alone because you choose to be.
*********************************************
Shige hated being alone in the house he had always seen as theirs. He hated the couch that had an empty seat next to him. He hated how the dining table had no one on the other end. He hated how he had to half the amount of coffee powder as he poured the black powder carefully into the automated machine. Most of all, he hated the cold bed that wouldn’t get warm, however hard he tossed and however hard he sweated.
There are times you just need someone to be there for you, not to support you, but just to be there by his own choice, making you feel not so alone in a world of individuals.
Just to be a pair.
There was a place where the sky and the earth met, a place called the ‘Horizon.’

“Pi.”
“Yo.”
Shige had finally left the house and Yamapi finally decided to go home. They didn’t need to remind each other to meet in the middle because that was what they had always done. They sat down at the table nearest to the sea, watching the stars dip into the sea.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know.” Yamapi once again planted a soft kiss on the younger boy’s forehead and Shige sniffed as he snuggled into the older boy’s chest. He couldn’t cry because he wasn’t sad but he couldn’t smile because he would never call this emotion happiness. It was love and there was no expression to wear for that.
Yamapi stroked Shige’s hair softly as he listened to the sea sing, a song without words that played into his heart. He knew the younger boy was listening to the rhythm holding them together, beating steadily in his chest.
There was a place that watched them fall in love, fall out of love and just fall back in again. The horizon brightened up as the sun continued to shine, but the stars would never leave him, so gently captured in his arms. Shige sighed as he felt the waves lap up against his skin, the touch remaining always at his side.
It was the never ending line called the horizon that would continue to lead them on.
Always
