“Maybe I’m not cut out for this business.”
“What?”
“I said, I think I’m not cut out for this business.”
“Then quit.” Tegoshi yawned as he stretched himself out on the warm carpet in the older boy’s apartment.
“Mm…” The older boy gave a non committal reply as he watched the younger boy. “Maybe I should.”
“Maybe you should.” Tegoshi nodded. “Make me the new leader before you leave, ‘kay?” The younger boy had already marked Yamapi’s house as his own private territory and the older boy seemed to have no problems with that, even giving the younger boy a spare key to allow him to enter as he pleased. Of course, this wasn’t without its benefits. Tegoshi was a growing boy with a healthy appetite, not only for food.
Yamapi smiled as he set the dinner plates on the table, not bothering to beckon Tegoshi over. The smell will draw him. He poked at his food as he watched the younger boy sleep. When he was sure that Tegoshi was safely asleep, he walked out of the apartment and called his manager.
“Oi, where did you go?” Tegoshi pouted, clearly irritated. His boyfriend just laughed and patted the boy on the head before returning to his seat, next to him.
“I was just calling Ryo Chan, about our next performance.”
“You couldn’t discuss it with the more talented one?” Tegoshi chuckled, stuffing the bits of fried chicken into his mouth. Sometimes even Yamapi is shocked by the difference in Tegoshi’s on stage persona and who he really was. The boy should win an Oscar for managing to act out each day perfectly. Being the annoying brat he was and still making him Yamapi fall for him, that deserved a Nobel Prize, the work of a genius. “Aren’t you quitting though?”
“Mmm.”
“Well whatever~ If you leave then I can have you ALL to myself ne? Win win situation~”
“Mmm.”
Tegoshi was, by now, used to the stoic nature of his partner when it came to his personal life but even for someone like him, it was slightly disappointing that 2 years into their relationship, this awkwardness still remained between them.
“Then maybe I should move in with Ryo Chan~ He’ll be more popular and desirable then ne?”
“Leave Ryo and Massu alone please. If you’re looking for entertainment, I’m sure Jin’s available. Kame seems to be a little off him at the moment.”
“Jin then.” Tegoshi frowned and refused to speak with the older boy for the rest of the day except to ask for Jin’s email address. Yamapi did not speak to the younger boy either except to ask him if he was coming to bed, to which the younger boy nodded and snuggled into the wide chest of the older boy.
“I’m not going to Jin. He’s probably not as squishy.”
“Probably.”
“Fine, well I’m sleeping.”
“Well then good night.”
The days that end like this will continue forever right?

“Oi, Pi? Where are you? I’m hungry and…?”
There was no one in that empty house. Of course there was a note that explained that the older boy was going to meet their manager, to which Tegoshi pouted.
“It’s not like I couldn’t have gone. I would have behaved.”
So Tegoshi made it a point to mess up the neat apartment before he left huffily, leaving his dirty laundry on purpose. Yamapi chuckled as he returned home. How predictable.
The boy will be back, soon enough. He began to cook dinner and reminded himself to ask Tegoshi to clean up after his mess, like he’s doing. Clearing up his own mess.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Massssssuuuuuuuuu…..” Tegoshi twirled in the rotatable seat at Massu’s bar top table. The other boy looked up from his cooking.
“Massu, I’m hungry.”
The older boy did not mind cooking dinner for his best friend, however annoying he was. He did not mind canceling dinner plans with Ryo either. What he did mind however, was Tegoshi whining about Yamapi’s attitude. As if he didn’t get enough of that from Ryo. He was sympathetic of course, towards Yamapi. They both worked as parents to two difficult children and while he loved Ryo more than anything in this world, there were times he wished Ryo could at least TRY to be a little bit more grown up. Tegoshi too, of course.
“He’s such an old man~” Tegoshi rolled his eyes as he recalled the previous night’s conversations. “He could at least TRY to look abit jealous.”
“Mmm.” Sometimes it surprised Massu how much Tegoshi and Ryo were similar. Of course, then he realized his answer was very much Yamapi-ish and he wondered whether it would have been more convenient, though impossible, to have fallen for Yamapi instead. He chuckled, thinking about what Ryo would say if he had heard that.
“GO THEN I DON’T NEED YOU. I’M TOO SEXY FOR YOU ANYWAY.” Or something like that.
“MASSU, ARE YOU LISTENING?”
Massu frowned and nodded before he continued whisking his eggs. The phone rang.
“That was Pi, he wants you back.”
“That’s faster than usual ne?” Tegoshi beamed, satisfied. “I won’t need dinner~”
As he watched the younger boy hop out of his apartment, he felt thankful that he had only prepared dinner for one.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“You can’t keep me away, can you?” Tegoshi threw his bag into the corner of the room as he kicked off his shoes and swaggered into the apartment to find a serious looking Yamapi staring back at him. That was the face that still scared him, in a small way.
“I was discussing with the manager, about my problem. And he told me to choose between acting and NEWS. I chose acting. That’s where I can really excel and…”
Tegoshi had slapped him.
“You told me to go.”
“I didn’t”
“You did.”
“I didn’t REALLY.” Tegoshi cried, more due to anger than sadness, or so he thought. Yamapi tried to touch his shoulder but he shrugged it away hastily. “You knew I was joking.”
“No I didn’t. I didn’t know you were joking.”
“You knew, you bastard.”
“I didn’t.”
Tegoshi slammed the door as he left. Yamapi sighed as he ate the dinner he cooked for one. There was a call from Massu on his cell he didn’t want to answer.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“OI, I CAN’T STAND HAVING TEGOSHI AT MASSU’S APARTMENT ANYMORE.” Ryo growled into the phone. “THERE’S NO TIME FOR US. AS IN, ME AND MASSU. NOT ME, MASSU AND TEGOSHI. TAKE HIM BACK.”
“I can’t.” Yamapi nodded calmly.
“YOU’D BETTER.”
“He’s angry and he won’t come back. You know that too.”
“But, you’re quitting us? Frankly, I’m a bit relieved. At least you’re not over worked ne?” Yamapi started at Ryo’s sudden change in tone. “I’m sure Tegoshi will realize soon.”
“I hope so.” Ryo was more mature after all, proving once and for all that to some extent, you do get wiser with age. He could almost hear Tegoshi whining in the background of the phone call. Ryo growled.
“OH GOD I CAN’T STAND THAT EXCESSIVE WHINING.”
“SHUT UP, IT’S NONE OF YOUR BUISNESS.” It was nice hearing Tegoshi’s voice again, even if it was like this. Yamapi smiled fondly.
“EXCUSE ME WHILE I KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND.” Ryo snarled inducing a laugh in the younger boy’s throat. His line to Tegoshi was cut and he stared thoughtfully at his now silent phone. If even Ryo understood, then maybe Tegoshi would too.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
“Of course I know why he’s quitting…” Tegoshi pouted into Massu’s pillow, much to Ryo’s silent dismay. Massu had his hand over the older boy’s mouth. “I just wished he could have told me or something.”
“HE DID.” Ryo screamed through Massu’s fingers, which made it come out more like “ FEE DEED.” Tegoshi rolled his eyes and stretched out on Massu’s empty bed.
“He didn’t, not really.”
“What did you want him to do then? Give you a play by play account?” Massu frowned, slightly irritated. Ryo nodded supportively, giving his lover a thumbs up.
“He could have chosen NEWS.”
“Tego, He loves acting.”
“He should love me more.”
“You’re so selfish.” Ryo screamed as it came out as “YOOR SO SELLLFUSH.”
Massu nodded and placed his free hand on the younger boy’s shoulder. “Do you understand?”
“He should have told me properly.”
“Some things don’t have to be said, Tego. I bet Pi trusted you enough to hope that you would understand him.”
Tegoshi frowned. Understanding the theory but not the practical. It wasn’t until Yamapi announced that he would choose NEWS if that would bring Tegoshi back, did he understand fully. That Yamapi loved him.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That night he told Yamapi off for being stupid and forced him back into his prior decision.
“I won’t leave you , I promise.” He said.
They argued and fought, refused to talk to each other but fell asleep in each other’s arms again.
And days like these will continue forever.
