2 and a Half to Go

Sep 14, 2008 17:27

It's hard to believe that we only have 2 and a half weeks to go until the end of our time at The JAG School in Charlottesville. In some ways it has seemed to just fly by though it has definitely been hard to be away from Tina for so long. Now, by the end of next week, I will be half way through my basic training.

The PT has really seemed to hit a lull in the last couple weeks as we have had a number of exams and mornings where we had to take (and then retake) a class photo. Nevertheless, Tuesday is our first REAL PFT (the other PFTs have been "diagnostics" and haven't gone into our official files). Add to it that this is also our last week of competition for Airborne training slots, which means that I need to pass the PFT at the 17-21 year old age range, and it will definitely be a challenging endeavour. Then Thursday we have our Airborne qualifying run which is basically a 5 mile run at a 8:30/mile pace. Friday caps off the week with our longest forced ruck march yet (6 miles), and it will definitely be a challenging week.

The real focus of the week is going to be the PT, and Airborne PT at that. The classes have been informative, but it is also pretty safe to say that everyone in the class is getting pretty tired of 8 hours of PowerPoint a day. Our Fiscal Law block of instruction ended a week ago and believe it or not it might have been the most interesting block so far. Tomorrow we have our Legal Assistance exams and then Tuesday begins our instruction in International and Operations law.

That's about all I've got right now, but not too long from now I'll be embarking on something completely different at Fort Benning.
