Sunggyu blinked at the text he’d gotten from Woohyun. He didn’t want to lie to Sungyeol like that, but the tension between him and Myungsoo was starting to drive Sunggyu insane.
To: My Namstar
alright. if i have too. itll be safe right? dongwoo and hoya arent going to do something dangerous are they?
A few moments later, he got a reply.
From: My Namstar
no. should be okay. i trust them.
Sunggyu sighed for a moment before sending a text to Sungyeol, who was using one of Sunggyu’s mom’s old phones until he could afford to get a new one.
To: Yeol
hey. woohyun said he wont be able to stop by today so can you go get my homework from him after school? he said hed be in the locker room before practice.
Sunggyu stared at the text with his finger hovering over the send button. Sungyeol would thank him for this later. He pushed send.
--
Sungyeol’s phone vibrated just as his last class was ending. He shoved his things into his bookbag before pulling his phone out of his pocket and reading the text from Sunggyu. He sent a text back saying he would go get it. It’s not like he had a reason to stay after school anymore.
He trudged down to the locker room, hoping that he would be able to avoid the one person he didn’t want to see.
As Sungyeol approached the locker room, he heard voices echoing inside. He sighed before pulling the door open. What happened next, happened before Sungyeol could even blink.
“Go! GO!” Someone was behind him, shoving him forward. He didn’t even have time to dig his feet in or open his mouth when he collided with another body, a gigantic piece of paper between them.
He looked around, absolutely bewildered to see Dongwoo, Hoya, and Woohyun running for the door.
“What the fuck?!” Sungyeol yelled after them as they stopped at the door with grins on their faces.
“You’re still on school property. I’m sure none of the administrators would appreciate your foul language. And since we seem to be stuck together, you’d be literally dragging me down with you.” Sungyeol whipped his head around and almost smacked Myungsoo in the face.
Myungsoo leaned his head back to keep Sungyeol from knocking into him.
“What the hell is this? Are you in on this?!” Sungyeol yelled furiously.
“Yes. Of course. Because I approve of getting stuck to you with industrial strength fly paper or whatever the hell this is and ruining my uniform, instead of talking to you like a civil human being. You guys owe us new uniforms,” Myungsoo added at the end as he struggled against the paper for good measure.
“Jeeze, Dongwoo. What the hell is that?” Woohyun asked as he watched the two struggle against each other with no avail.
“Some sort of industrial strength adhesive used to hold together metal as stuff gets welded. I know how to get it off so... Oh, hey. Is practice starting? I’ll tell Coach you’re not feeling well, Myungsoo. Bye!” The three of them shoved each other out of the locker room, slamming the door shut behind them.
The sound echoed through the room, making Sungyeol wince slightly. His arms and chest, and upper half of his legs were stuck to the paper. How Dongwoo managed to get this into the school and not get caught was beyond him.
Sungyeol could feel Myungsoo’s body heat radiate through the paper and scowled at him.
“This is your fault.”
“Not really. You’re the one who won’t talk to me.”
“God damn it. I knew there was something fishy about that text Sunggyu sent me. Since when does Woohyun not have time to see him? I was too busy being pissed at you to notice.”
“I’ll take the blame for you being angry at me. But it is your fault that we’re stuck together like this in the locker room. Can we move? I don’t want to stand here all day.”
“What do you propose we do? Sit? Only one of us can sit since we’re facing each other. And that won’t even work because WE’RE STUCK TOGETHER.” Myungsoo winced at how loud Sungyeol yelled so close to his face. And when Sungyeol yelled, his voice went very high pitched.
“We could lie down. Or lean against the wall. Or just stand here, if you want. It doesn’t matter much to me.”
“A lot of things don’t matter much to you,” Sungyeol mumbled under his breath as he looked away from Myungsoo. Myungsoo felt a guilty squeeze on his heart as he listened to Sungyeol. After a moment of silence, where the only sound was rustling paper, Sungyeol spoke again.
“Why did you only introduce me as a friend?” Myungsoo was taken aback. That’s why Sungyeol was mad? Not that Sungjong practically made out with him right beside him, but that Myungsoo introduced Sungyeol to him as only a friend?
Myungsoo bit his lip, trying to think of an honest answer for Sungyeol. He could tell Sungyeol was hurt, and coupled with his stubbornness and irritability, he could understand why he was being so irrational. Or maybe Myungsoo was the one being irrational.
“I don’t know. Force of habit.”
“Force of habit?” Sungyeol asked, turning to face Myungsoo with a strange expression.
“Back at my old school... It’s true. Sungjong and I had kissed a few times. We were touchy feely, hung out together a lot, acted like a couple. But I didn’t want anything to happen to him, so I always said we were just friends...”
“So you and Sungjong...” Sungyeol said slowly, his heart sinking in his chest.
“Yeah, I guess you could say we were dating. Were,” Myungsoo emphasized.
“If you two were so vague to start with, what makes you think your end isn’t vague either?” Sungyeol asked, not meeting his gaze.
Myungsoo sighed before leaning his head back and trying to shift against Sungyeol. The two of them were so close to each other, but at the same time, so far away.
“Listen. I know I messed up. I cleared things up with Sunjong. He wasn’t happy, but there’s nothing there between us anymore because...” Myungsoo trailed off.
“Because what?” Sungyeol said quietly.
“Because I like arguing with you, because I hate seeing you like this, because I’m comfortable with you. Because it’s fun messing with you, because it’s fun messing with peoples’ heads with you. Because I like you. Because I want you to be my boyfriend.” Sungyeol was silent.
“What makes you think I still think of you that way?” Myungsoo’s heart stopped.
“I... I...” Sungyeol turned to look at him with a slight smirk on his face.
“I think you’ll have to win me over again.” Myungsoo let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, trying not to shake as his knees went weak.
“Good GOD, Sungyeol. Don’t say stuff like that.” Myungsoo collapsed against him, Sungyeol yelping as the two of them fell to the floor.
“You didn’t really think I’d stay mad at you forever, did you?” Sungyeol asked, letting his head fall onto the cold, concrete floor.
“Maybe. My stubbornness is rubbing off on you.”
“Maybe that’s a good thing.”
“It’s not.” Sungyeol smiled at Myungsoo for the first time in weeks.
“Now, how the hell are we going to get out of this?” Sungyeol asked, thrashing slightly.
“I don’t know. Freaking Dongwoo and Hoya... I knew something was wrong when they asked me to help them reach for something under the benches. Next thing I know, someone pulled me out and threw me at you.”
“Is this even legal? Is this going to fuse with our skin or something? He said it was industrial strength for plane welding or something.”
“I don’t know. But I have a plan. What time is it?” Sungyeol struggled to glance down at his watch to tell Myungsoo the time.
“So we have about another hour until practice is over. And this is what we’re going to do.”
--
“You think they’ve made up yet?” Woohyun asked as they trudged back to the locker room. Dongwoo, Hoya, and he were sent away from practice a few minutes early to check on Myungsoo.
“They’re probably making out right now since that’s pretty much the only thing they can do, being stuck together like that,” Dongwoo said with some laughter in his voice.
As they got closer to the locker room though, they heard yelling and crashing noises.
“Or not,” Hoya said, jogging for the locker room, followed by Woohyun and Dongwoo.
“God, I fucking hate you! I swear!” Sungyeol swung their bodies around toward the lockers, Myungsoo wincing as his back made contact with a lock.
“Jeeze, don’t throw so hard,” Myungsoo muttered under his breath.
“My bad,” Sungyeol said back with an apologetic look on his face.
“It’s not like I like you any better! Fucking asshole!” Myungsoo pushed forward, sending the two of them falling to the floor as soon as the other three burst through the door.
The two rolled around on the floor, screaming at each other and hitting each other into the benches. Myungsoo should’ve thought of a more painless plan.
“Hey, you two! Stop it!”
“Stay out of this!” both of them shouted, struggling against the paper. Dongwoo ran into the back, grabbing a bucket.
“Hey, hey come on now. Stop!” Woohyun stepped forward only to get kicked in the shin by flying legs.
“Ow! Hey!” Dongwoo came back with a bucket of water and dumped it on the two. The paper dissolved between them, leaving them separated and soaking wet.
They laid on the floor, breathing hard until Sungyeol pushed himself up and stormed out, slamming the door closed behind him while Myungsoo covered his eyes with his arm.
“Thanks guys. Now he probably doesn’t ever want to talk to me again.” The three of them looked around nervously at each other.
“We were just trying to help...”
“Yeah. Thanks.”
--
“I thought I told you to drop me off at my house,” Myungsoo said tiredly as they pulled up to Sunggyu’s house.
“No. We are going to fix this.” Woohyun got out of the car and slammed his door before opening the passenger door and dragging Myungsoo inside. Myungsoo mentally smirked, letting himself be dragged inside.
Sungyeol was in the kitchen eating an apple when they burst through the door. Sunggyu looked up from the couch with a confused expression as Sungyeol’s expression turned angry again.
“God damn it. What part of ‘I don’t ever want to see your face again’ do you not understand?” he yelled at Myungsoo before storming up the stairs.
“It’s not like I had a choice. Hey! Listen to me when I’m talking to you!” Myungsoo grabbed onto his arm and let him get dragged upstairs, the two of them couldn’t stop the mischievous smiles on their faces before they entered Sungyeol’s bedroom and slammed the door behind them.
“Nice to see they’ve made up,” Sunggyu said from the couch, straightening up his papers and sticking his pencil behind his ear.
“Uh. Did you not hear them?” Loud crashing noises were coming from Sungyeol’s room now, followed by yells.
“Good grief. If they were going to have make up sex, then at least they could put on music or something.” Sunggyu stood up with a sigh and limped into his room.
“What the hell are you on, Sunggyu?” Dongwoo asked, earning a punch from Woohyun.
“You didn’t see it? They were holding hands and smiling when they ran into Sungyeol’s room. Have they been doing that since you stuck them together?” Sunggyu asked with a laugh.
“What?”
“Say what?”
“I’m sorry to say this, but you guys have been tricked once again. I’m pretty sure everything is fine between them now.”
The yelling of names turned into loud moaning of each other’s names, making everyone else cringe a little bit.
“So, who wants to go out for ice cream?” Woohyun said loudly, pulling his keys from his pocket.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Dongwoo and Hoya scrambled over each other to get to the door while Sunggyu went to go grab a jacket and a beanie.
--
Dinner was a little bit awkward to say the least. Woohyun kept getting distracted by the gigantic hicky on the conjunction of Myungsoo’s neck and shoulder.
When Sunggyu’s mom asked about it, he said he fell.
“Onto a pair of lips,” Dongwoo said under his breath, making Sunggyu choke on his food and Hoya snort into his water. Woohyun tried to hold back the look of disgust and horror threatening to show on his face.
--
“That’s nice that they finally made up... None too soon too. Christmas is in a few weeks,” Sunggyu said as he and Woohyun snuggled up on the couch together.
“My parents are still going to be out of the country, so I’ll be spending Christmas here too, instead of the Christmas social with Dongwoo and Hoya.” He silently fist pumped.
“Mm, okay. Mom wants to start pulling out Christmas decorations in a few days.”
“Speaking of Christmas,” Woohyun said, hand playing with Sunggyu’s hair, “anything you particularly want this year?” Sunggyu furrowed his eyebrows in thought before grinning.
“I have you, don’t I? What else could I ask for?” Woohyun made a choking noise.
“Oh god. The cheese! The cheese is killing me!” Sunggyu laughed.
“No, nothing in particular. I’m glad I get to spend it with you though.”
“So... there’s nothing you want?”
“I dunno. Surprise me. You don’t even have to get me anything.” Woohyun pursed his lips. Shopping for Sunggyu...
“Are you getting me anything?”
“Yeah. I have it all figured out already.” Woohyun got nervous.
“What? What’d you get me?”
“I’m not telling. You’ll find out on Christmas.” Woohyun sighed. That put some pressure on him. He was going to find the perfect gift for Sunggyu, even if it killed him.
