I finally got around to changing the name of my journal becaaaauuussee I felt like it. I like mixing things up every once and a while.
Still waiting on my stuffs to come in the mail. I would like to go buy some more patterns soon. I have several costumes that I want to start.
We don't have a group cosplay really planned for AZ. Matt is shying away from anything that has to do with armor, so that strikes out our original ideas. I need to talk to him, because I may actually join in another group cosplay on Saturday. I'd do something with Matt on Friday (and Lis and Sarah if they come), and then join in the Magic Knights Rayearth group that Adrienne, Kitty, Beth, and Jeff are planning. Jeff was hinting to me last night that they were in need of the third Knight and that there was no pressure, but it would be "awesome" if I could cosplay her. xD The costume is not one that I would have picked originally. Its a bit more conservative than I'm used to doing when it comes to females. However, I am planning more conservative female cosplays in the future (Mai from Avatar: The Last Airbender, artbook Sister Noelle from Trinity Blood, and Lenalee from D.Gray Man) and I do have plenty of non-conservative ones planned (xDDDD), I figure it all balances out. The costume itself is still beautiful, even if it isn't the one I would have initially picked:
http://rayearth.astraldream.net/artbook1/mkray027.jpg Jeff said that the character is a bit annoying in the anime, so he advised me from watching it, lol.
And of course, in the pictures of the other two Knights, you can clearly see their lower halves...but not in this one. xD She has to be all wrapped up in crazy billowing whiteness. Luckily, I found a relatively decent cosplay of this exact costume that I can reference for the legs. I've yet to really see an accurate cosplay of this version of Fuu. I found some really awful ones, and then the one decent cosplay that I'll be referencing a bit is still pretty off-base. :/ I'm determined to make this cosplay look amazing AND accurate if I do it, hehe. It'll be the most detailed thing I've done yet, but I figure it'll make good practice for when I start to tackle the artbook version of Sister Noelle. Those Trinity Blood costumes are like...woah.
If they do enter the masquerade though, I probably won't enter with them. If my group, or lack of, decides not to enter in AZ's masquerade this year (which is fine with me), then I'd rather sit it in with them, unless they were perfectly okay with me entering with Jeff's group. It'd just feel weird being in another masquerade group without the full consent and okay of my fellow Waffles. >.< I'd be perfectly fine just sitting it in with them, since we always have Otakon, and we seem to have better luck there. xD Ironically, we've only won Judge's Awards at the lesser-competitive Animazement, but we've won two main awards at the highly-competitive Otakon. At AZ, they don't even judge your costumes very much. At Otakon, we are required to go in for costume judging first, as it adds up to the overall score. They pick us over, ask us questions, and then go about looking at seams, touching things, examining our wigs, etc etc. I guess we have more success because we can actually practice together for Otakon, and Otakon has a longer skit limit: three minutes compared to AZ's one minute and 30 seconds, or whatever it is. Its even crazier that we won Best Journeymen...seeing as how the costume craftsmanship quality is doubled from what Novice is. O_O
And I'd like to say that skipping out on the masquerade isn't due to the fact that Ashley won't be there, buuuut...for some reason, it just doesn't feel right doing it without her. Her and I are sorta the founders of Waffles, and we've always been the most passionate about performing. It just doesn't feel right without her there performing with us. xD
But in any case, if we do end up skipping out at AZ, it isn't a big loss. This costume will be enough for me to deal with as is. The last thing I want to have to worry about is organizing a skit. >.< I think it would be less stress if we just sat this one out. On top of this, I'll still have to prepare Nel and Sailor Iron Mouse for Otakon, as well as fixing up Shino for AWA and Otakon next year, if Kitty finishes Helba in time. Ideally, I'd also like to finish Morrigan by next year, and at the very least, /start/ on Mai, Lenalee, and Sister Noelle.
O___O; So, yea.
I just have an itch for all these costumes though. >.< For most of them, I've ceased caring about what convention I'll wear it to...I just want to make the costume for the sake of making it. xDD
I told someone that, since I had never been able to keep up with drawing very well, cosplay was my alternate form of art. Instead of drawing the characters, I turn myself into them. xDDD It makes me feel a bit better for letting my drawing skills go to hell. xD
And this is what has basically been on my mind, keeping my thoughts from other things. My older sister is in the hospital and may have to have an emergency surgery if it turns out to be a problem with her appendix. >.< What worries us is that she has all the symptoms of someone whose appendix has already ruptured, and that makes the normal surgery a lot more complicated. =( My dad, meanwhile, is having severe back pain; probably repercussions from the accident last year. He's had back surgery a lot when he was younger, so the fact that his back was messed up even before the accident doesn't help the situation. He isn't sleeping well, and I'm worried about him, because if my mom and him end up having to go to DC for my sister, it'll delay his own doctor visit. Its really hard to see how much pain he is in. >.< Annnnnnd, then there was a bit of strife within Waffles. I won't go into details since most of it has already been patched up.
Needless to say, my two days off have not been very enjoyable. I'm sorta looking forward to work tomorrow, heh.
