Redrum!!

Ah...the school year has begun. I am actually enjoying myself this time around, not nearly as bad as last year. I say that now, but we will see how long it takes before I start crying...I give it until Halloween. But seriously, so far everything has been going well. The new district has truly switched up what kind I've students I am used to, but I adjust quickly. My kids are so quiet, though, it's just wonderful. The only time they get too rowdy is at indoor recess and math. Man, I love math time. I know it sounds so weird coming from a girl who hated math since she could count, but I just love to teach it. The other day I taught rounding. Wow, just wow. The tears were incredible. I never thought kids would cry over rounding. I asked them why they thought anyone would bother rounding and what it could be good for and my one student replied "I dunno why, this stuff is crazy!" But it feels good to be back...and it's nice to have my weekends back. I still come home late, and fall asleep at 9:30, but I know on Saturday I can sleep until E makes me get up.
Everything with the GT department is going awesome. I know it sounds weird, but I am so pumped to be teaching the accelerated material. What that means is instead of having my kids jump from second grade straight to fourth, we are actually just giving them a really fast version of third grade, then pushing them into fourth. Last year we jumped them into fourth, so my kids missed all of third grade. It was...difficult...lots of crying...from me and the kids...
Ah...yes, I have been emersed in teaching lately, so if you and I hang out sometime soon it will be all I talk about. Sorry, I'm just already proud of my kids-they are just a kind hearted group this year. I am also excited because the holiday season is coming up soon--it's almost cupcake time! My kids are soooo excited to meet E. This past week and little girl asked me where Mr. M was. I was very confused and asked her why she thought he was coming in. She replied, "I thought he was bringing us cupcakes." I have no idea where she got that idea from, but she was actually more disappointed E wasn't coming in than she was over missed cupcakes! He is seriously just so great with kids. Whenever we go to a party and there are children, I know I won't see my husband until the party is over! Talks of having our own have been going on since we were just dating, we both want kids when the time is right. He could have them right now, but I really want a house first. So, we're getting there. I actually had a dream about our kids last night. I dreamt that it was their first trip to England, we had two daughters and they were stunning, and I was very pissed at myself because I forgot our camera. We do plan on taking the kids overseas ASAP. We want to start them off in England because it's the most non-threatening, then it's off to places were English is not the primary language. I love it when kids speak French, it makes me giggle. Ah...dreams.

Eveything else in life is swell. We are catching up after the most difficult summer ever, and starting to think about our next options. We really love our apartment, but rent is going up in February and we don't know if we can keep it. Also, if we sign a lease again, that'll push having kids back another year. Which isn't a bad thing, but I like to choose my timing, not my landlord! And wow it's midnight.

Oh, and in reference to my post's title, I actually have a student who does the little finger thing and uses a demon voice in my class. JOY!
