During the 19th century a breed a chicken was developed peculiar to the Medway area. The breed, now extinct,

Lyrics Medway Wheelers

She joined the Medway Wheelers in June of 1944
She grew up in Whitmoor, wanted to see the big outdoors
Cycling on a Hobbs Supreme, lightweight made to measure
Medway Wheelers.., Medway Wheelers ..

Left Braye on Friday night, to two day’s to get to Tonge
Went there with her first husband,
Stopped off at Clevellee for a cup of tea
Cycling on a Hobbs Supreme, fixed wheel with a crossbar
Medway Wheelers.., Medway Wheelers ..

Get up in the morning, leave for Dungeness at 6 o’cock
Meet Rita at the Target and get lost in the fog
Cycling on a Hobbs Supreme, lightweight made to measure
They thought they’d never get there, they thought they’d never get there,
Ron and Reg able, cycling with their trapers
All ride killed in London, his wheels caught in train’ rails
Captain cycling round North Wales
They thought they’d never get there, they thought they’d never get there,
They thought they’d never get there, they thought they’d never get there,
Medway Wheelers.., Medway Wheelers ..
Medway Wheelers.., Medway Wheelers ..
