Blue has always been one of the most difficult colours to make
You've heard of True Blue, well here's a New Blue!!
YInMn Blue pigment is a compound of Yttrium, Indium, and Manganese first discovered by accident in 2009
at the materials science lab of OSU’s Chemistry Department.
Artists are Waiting to Test the New Colour, but it is tied up in high cost and patent
YInMn Blue pigment is approximately six times the cost of Cobalt or Cerulean blues.
This is largely due to the component Indium being a rare earth element.
At this time, the cost of this pigment, relative to its benefit to painters,
is too high for us to add this colour to our palette.

Yes, it's a new blue, but is it tried and true?
The excitement of discovering a brilliant blue, heat reflecting, thermally stable, and UV absorbing pigment,
Subramanian and his team made a range of new pigments to include almost every colour, from bright oranges to shades
of purple, turquoise and green, and continue to search for a new stable, heat reflecting, and brilliant red,
the most elusive colour to synthesize.
