Trinity Western University Legal Dump!
This place is about 45 minutes from me. It is a Christian University that is multi-disciplined.
Recently they applied to add a faculty of Law to their curriculum.
Since Trinity Western University’s proposed School of Law was granted preliminary approval from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada (FLSC) and BC’s Ministry of Advanced Education last December, it has faced opposition in several provinces such as Alberta, Saskatchewan, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nunavut. Law societies in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick who are open to public debate over the issue that began in 2012, lay down their gavels, as the Supreme Court of Canada has now ruled that provincial law societies can’t be forced to accredit a law school that will practice discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
The private evangelical school that requires all students, staff, and faculty to sign and adhere to a community covenant regarding student personal lives, that they must abstain from sex outside of traditional heterosexual marriage. The court heard the case for approval of a law faculty on Nov.30 and Dec.1 2017, and just released the verdict today six months later, scrutinizing whether the law societies have the right to consider any issues other than competence and the technical merits for a law school.
The University believes this is an issue of religious freedom, which not only affects TWU, but all religious organizations in Canada, wanting to draw people of marginalized groups into the legal system, not make them feel unwelcome in it, while other factions believe we’ve got enough backwards judges who make disastrous decisions involving marginalized people, such as the illuminazi right wing pseudo Christian industrial military Satanist judiciary system in America, for which Canada likes to follow ten years (tenures) right behind. And “Would this also apply to a Muslim university?” to which the answer is, “Obviously.” Otherwise we'll all be fucking goats and wearing burkas in the courtroom. Zionist Israel vs semitic Jew. Male dominated judiciary system vs feminist point of view.
This might have warranted building an expansion for the law school, but as it stands, things will be remaining pretty much the same.
