The dog's name is Nipper. Image of the fox terrier Nippera, was created in 1899 by the English artist Francis Barraud (Francis Barraud). Nipper was born in Bristol, Gloucester, England in 1884 and got his name because of his habit of lightly biting visitors by the heels. When his first master Mark Barro died in poverty in Bristol in 1887. In Liverpool, Nipper first saw the phonograph, a machine for recording and playing on cylinders, and Francis "often noticed how puzzled he was, trying to understand where the voice comes from." This scene was so imprinted in Francis's mind that the artist decided to paint it. It was titled "His Master's Voice". In 1899, "The Gramophone Company" for 100 pounds sterling acquired from the artist Francis Barrot the right to use this painting as his logo. Later the company reduced the name of the painting to "HMV", which later became a separate brand. Even greater success followed Nipper in the United States, where the license for his image was acquired by the company "Victor" and began to decorate all the copies of their records. The logo was so closely associated with the company that the advertising posters in the music stores said simply: "Look for the dog."

The painting is called "His Master's Voice" ("His Master's Voice").
