Three French Hens represent the Charities "Faith, Hope, and Love"

"And now abideth faith, hope & love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" - 1 Corinthians 13:13

Left to right: Mercury, the Three Graces, Venus, Flora, Chloris, Zephyrs - Primavera (c. 1482), iconic painting of springtime, renewal of the Florentine Renaissance, also at the summer palazzo of Pierfrancesco de' Medici, as a companion piece to the Birth of Venus and Pallas and the Centaur. Of their beauty, characterized by Vasari as exemplifying "grace" and by John Ruskin as 'possessing linear rhythm', there can be no doubt.

In Greek mythology, a Charis (/ˈkeɪrɪs/; Greek: Χάρις, pronounced [kʰáris]) or Grace is one of three or more minor goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, human creativity, and fertility, together known as the Charites /ˈkærᵻtiːz/ (Χάριτες [kʰáritɛːs]) or Graces. In some variants, Charis was one of the Graces and was not the singular form of their name.

Metropolitan Museum Marble Statue Group of the Three Graces. The Three Graces-Aglaia (Beauty), Euphrosyne (Mirth), and Thalia (Abundance)-the handmaidens of Aphrodite or (Creativity) Roman, are represented as nude young girls standing with their hands on each other's shoulders, the center figure facing the other two. Large, drapery-covered water jars frame the group. Venerable cults devoted to the Three Graces existed throughout the ancient Graeco-Roman world.
