My father (82) asked me how it felt now, or for now, I'd stopped work. I was, I admit, a bit lost for words. I didn't want to sound smug or self-righteous but I so wanted to say: A lot better than I was whilst held under by the meat grinder. I resisted the temptation. There is a sense though that everything is different but no-thing is different. I've gone back to where I started when I first left law in August 2010 and nothing is any different, but that's 14 years ago. I think what I'm saying is that I'm beginning to understand how much I previously assumed and never questioned and now, whilst I'm not saying I'm a different person, I do feel that I know a whole load more. I'll keep sharing on LJ although I expect to lose a few people along the way who say (or words to the effect) WTF! Keep the faith my friend. Take care, Ju

i've got a 93 year old friend who asks me the same questions. he thinks this world is bonkers. and he was at south korea in the navy in the 50s, he also visited hiroshima, so he's pretty saavy
