Ontario Provincial Police officers say they have begun reopening a large stretch of Highway 11 in Cottage Country after
rapid snow accumulation over the weekend saw hundreds of motorists and vehicles trapped when nearly 100 kilometres of the
roadway between Orillia and Huntsville after a snowstorm rendered it impassable. Christmas is on the way!
Intense snow squalls battering Ontario moved south Sunday after burying some parts of the province under more than a meter of snow,
stranding people on roadways and prompting one town to declare a state of emergency. The 90-kilometre stretch of highway passes through
Bracebridge, Muskoka Airport, Gravenhurst and Washago.
Gravenhurst, a town in Ontario's Muskoka region hit with around 140 centimetres of snowfall, declared a state of emergency early Sunday.
