I’ve come to the conclude that there is nothing literal about the Bible, it’s simply metaphoric allegros, despite any historical references which were scribed post event. Many of the stories are copies of myths from ancient cultures, the only new thing is agape, or love. Universal love for our brothers and sisters, our neighbors, our creator, ourselves. Respect for living entities, tethered against the nightmares of demonic deception.
God lives within you.
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth." John 14:15-31 NIV
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10).
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4:10)
8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 1 Corinthians 12:8-10
We were all baptized by one Holy Spirit. We were all given the same Spirit to drink.
The Holy Spirit is an important figure throughout the Bible. This unseen force, yet witnessed by events, is the presence of God in us. In Genesis 1:2, we find Him moving about the surface of the waters, and in Revelation 22:17, He and the bride cry with one voice. The disciples were filled with the Spirit in the upper room, and Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, stood up to preach on the day of Pentecost (Ac 2:14). The Holy Spirit is God as one of the three Persons of the Trinity, along with God the Father and God the Son, whose work is to manifest the active presence of God in the world and especially in the Church.
9 Fruits of the Holy Spirit Given Unto Us (with slight variances)
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. John 16:13-15
“When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment.” John 16:8
“You will be My witnesses” Acts 1:8. Love is a distinguishing mark of the disciples, while being a witness distinguishes those who are full of the Spirit.
“We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are” Acts 15:11
“…and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” Romans 3:24
