hehe, I can just see you now, making some kind of bizarre hybrid in the lab. I can't say i know very much about AI, so are you more discovering and researching it than learning about it? as i've studies intelligence in psychology it's interesting to think about, because the measures we've used for intelligence wouldn't apply in the same way to a machine. ooh its all very interesting, how far along is technology on AI, what can they do so far? maybe that is a bit of an open question. I suppose if you believe that all behaviour is determined (biologically for example) then it would be theoretically possible to synthesise intelligence, assuming that nature plays a bigger role than nuture. i'm going off on a tangent now...maybe you can put my mind into a bit more clairty good luck with your work x
oh, god, i shouldn't ask... but i want to know... tell me quickly if possible... why is creating hard intelligence not viable? i read a book recently which was the equivalent of being hit repeatedly over the head by a scientist yelling "you stupid, stupid girl, there is no god, we have no soul, all we are is a collection of intricate systems the interaction of which produces this mirage we call consciousness." is this true (yes or no answer fine), and is the problem simply that these systems are far too intricate to reproduce at a manageable size? (read somewhere that the computer which simulates the way a sparrow regulates its speed is the size of a fridge)
