this really good friend of mine has this acquaintance coworker that she apparently cannot delete or limit from her facebook friends list, for some reasons. this FoF is either A, completely without friends to the point that she has HOURS to spend commenting multiple times to every.single.status.update or photo or note my friend posts, or is B, such a pedantic douchey asshole that she can't let anything pass without informing everyone of her opinion and personal experience that might be tangentially related to whatever topic is at hand.
i cite examples:
my friend posted something about preferring Steinbeck to Fitzgerald. a few people commented either agreeing or not, and a few people commented that if you'd never read Gatsby in school, there wasn't much of a reason to go back and read it now. pedantic douchey asshole (PDA) responds, "I managed to get through two literature degrees and studying constructions of masculinities without having to read Fitzgerald. Actually, American Lit generally doesn't have much to offer me, other than Alice Walker and Zora Neale Hurston." REALLY? i mean? what an asshole.
a few days after the above, my friend's husband, who is unfortunately also friends with this douche, posted some joking status about having a man crush on Alec Baldwin, because of The Shadow and 30 Rock. PDA responds, "Yes, his comedic timing is on point, and I've often looked to him when developing my own comedic roles." OMGSTFU.
my friend said something about, oh, i'm going to write a book about my daughter's effed up sleeping habits, and PDA says, "I wish people would stop pressuring me to write a book. I'm having a difficult enough time finishing these 3 articles for publication!" oh, really? please tell us what your articles are about, PDA!! are they about constructions of masculinities??! sounds fascinating!

No, there is no point to this rant, other than to say it's possible for people to be total assholes without being aggressive social conservatives or ill-intentioned jackasses. you too can be an asshole if you volunteer too much information and generally act like a pedantic douche! this is especially true if you're constantly commenting to a coworker's fb feed, when said coworker sits within yelling distance of you, because then it's just obvious that your posturing is meant to try and drum up interest in you amongst your coworker's friends. (it isn't working, btw).
ALSO? her name is Ammie, prounced "Ahh-mee." "The French pronunciation," she says. Despite being a black chick from Texas.
