I went to the Natural Sciences Bath open Day today - the one that I was invited to, and wasn't, technically, an interview - or compulsory - and yet the reply slip went something like this:
- Yes I would like to come on the 12th
- No, I can't come on the 12th but I would like to come on the 19th
- I do not want to go and wish to withdraw my application
Which, to me, sounds very compulsory. And yet all they did was show us around and tell us about the course. Very odd.
Also, apparently they make about 450 offers a year for 60 places. Do that many people reject them? Bath is in the top three of the universities doing NatSci - with Cambridge and Durham - and in some ways the best (languages and industrial experience).
I actually loved the university. The campus is gorgeous, the city's also beautiful, the course structure is flexible and the facilities are excellent. And it's a world class university.
However. I love Cambridge. The campus is gorgeous, the city's beautiful (well, same thing, but you know what I mean), the course structure is pretty flexible and the facilities are excellent. Plus, you know, world class.
Clearly, I will have to make a choice (unless I get into neither and don't get my three As, in which case this is all academic). The biggest difference is at Bath I can do a study year abroad, whereas at Cambridge I can get funding to go and do projects abroad in my holidays, I hear.
So, what I was really wondering was - if I got into Cambridge, would I be stupid to turn it down? If I were to get the same degree standard from both (hopefully a First :D), would employers choose Cambridge over Bath? Or when I go for my interview will I decide I prefer Cambridge and be making a big fuss over nothing?
Advice, please?
