Sorry, Kat. That's really the spelling of the venue's name.

Okay, so this was a weekend of some intensive rehearsals, guitarin', and spinning. We actually made it out to the beach yesterday. It was the first time in frikkin months!

Saturday night's rehearsal was productive. After a point. I had, as previously posted, been purchasing various props for my debut as a Bond Nemesis. The last things on my list was a martini glass and a martini shaker. Now I'm starting to think an eye patch might be nice, but I'm not there yet. Ari, a colleague, recently walked away from alcohol and promised that I could have her martini set. We were already running late, but it made sense to pick it up. I called her and got directions. Unfortunately her (no doubt good-for-nothing, low-down) ex husband ended up with the shaker, so she was kind enough to give me the glasses. We pulled off on the way in for a quick purchase of a martini shaker. I do like a good martini on those off moments when I actually allow alcohol to enter my blood stream, so it was a multi-task purchase. I got pimp-style parking right outside of Vivian's pad, where we were to rehearse. Since it is LSDF rehearsing, it was another hour before Moni meandered in and another half hour before we actually wandered outside to get down to business.

Once we started rehearsing we started getting the timing down. Since most of the actual direction is done at this point, we are focusing on stage presence and blocking. Moni's date was a big help in pointing out where the blocking didn't work and for cueing the music. Viv's pad backs up to a jazz club and a house that was having a party so we had volume competition for the music along with a built in audience wondering what the hell those people were doing with fire in the yard over there. One big positive of the evening was that Dash showed me a new way to do Dragon's Breath that allows me to keep most of the fuel off of my tongue. It works swimmingly and I was doing full on wand-extinguish and relight within an hour.

This is going to be a great show.
