Maybe its just how I am making it, or the pictures I am using.. but my icon is turning out almost a white colour, is there a certain reason for that?!

it may be too bright. lessening the opacity of the curves layer might help.

i tried that and then it turned out too green lol so I'll just keep on trying with it

try lessening the opacity of the color balance layer ;]

i added tons of different textures and whatnot after i was through, but i based my icon off of this tutorial :]
