Bureaucracy

The state of Michigan is apparently outside of of karmatic law.

Either that, or I am, despite my best efforts to win the universe back over to my side of what I consider an independent functionality through various exercises in self control and humility.

Bitching about it does nothing to rectify the situation, I know.  Trust me, I tried that tactic for years.  However, my rage triggers still have a few fingers resting upon them, and most of them work for the government and law enforcement.  Today, one got pulled.  A trigger, not a finger (hah!).

I attempted to get my full license back today, and instead walked away with NO license at all.

Yes, you read that correctly.  The exact opposite result of what I set out to achieve.  How, you ask?  For some reason, in an age where I can locate my friends via GPS just because they have the same phone as me in a matter of seconds, it takes roughly 15 days to verify that a check which has absolutely 100% been cashed has cleared a debt I owed to the state.  After over-nighting $500 to the Treasury Dept. last week, so that I could obtain my license back this week before my due date was up, I'm now being told that there is a 15 day clearance process, which places me past the due date, which means my license is now suspended until that clearance process is complete.  I started off very polite, simply asking why this information was not volunteered to me when I asked about all the specifics and steps I had to take to get this whole matter cleared up.  Empty stares.  That's what I got in response, followed by "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do."  No, you're absolutely correct, there is nothing you can do, however, there is a whole lot you could've done, such as tell me what the fuck was up when I asked the first ten times.

So this means I can't operate a vehicle at all now, regardless of where I'm going, for about two weeks.  I cannot help but feel like even more of a complete jackass, angry now both at myself and the people who could have prevented this from happening has they simply volunteered correct information when I asked for it.  I'm also astounded that it takes 15 days to verify that a payment has been made when the check has already been cashed by the Treasury Dept.  15 days.  I can send an email in three seconds.  The check itself was cashed less than 24 hours after it was written.  Does this contradiction of red tape blow anyone else's mind, or just mine?
