There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. Sometimes they're are only gone for a few days, but I've known people who were gone for a few months.

A few months? [Apparent shock is apparent.] What do they do to them for that long?

I assume it would very from person to person... a friend of mine was taken for a little over a month once. When she came back, she was only a little tired. So I'm not sure if there's really any connection between how long they're taken and what happens to them.

[Such a smart kid. B)]

Do you mean there's a chance that time where they're taken to flows differently than the one here?

Hm... it wouldn't surprise me if the malnosso were capable of something like that, but it could just be the effects of the drugs they use to keep anyone from fighting back. I've been taken for a week before, and I hardly remember any of it.

Drugs? [Then, they might have given Shikamaru some-- Oh gosh.]

[A nod. He didn't mean to make her start worrying more, but...] How much do you know about the kidnappings? I'm not sure how much detail is explained in the New Feather guide these days.

I think I remember reading experiments, but... [She trails off. Why was she so surprised then if she actually browsed through the guide?] I guess when your friend is on the line, you expect they'd be alright.

Yes. And it's hard not to worry about them when the situation isn't very clear. [Especially if they've been gone for an unusual amount of time...]

If you don't mind my asking, how long has your friend been kidnapped?

For a few weeks and counting now. It's very weird, really. And he's not really the type to disappear like that without getting kidnapped. [Shikamaru's very responsible. 8|b]
