Back at the Cat (The Suitable Few 1yr Birthday) 03/12/04

Dec 03, 2004 18:50

i hadn't heard or heard of Discreet before this night, but it turned out the frontman (singer, guitarist, songwriter) was a friend from high school, Mitchell Graham. i remember him as being a big Metallica fan and it seems Metallica plaid a big influence on both how Discreet sound and look. Not identical though and i'm sure there's other influences in there too. Anyways, i enjoyed their set and bought their demo EP. Here's the set list of what they played that night at the Cat & Fiddle in Balmain:
1. Intro
2. Finger at Me
3. Downfall
4. Forsaken
5. (new one)
6. The Situation
7. A time, a place
8. Look Back
9. Takes Time

Ta'veren Jive were great as usual. i was happy jumping around in front of the left side of the stage. i didn't manage to get a set list, but i remember particularly enjoying "Hermit".

The Suitable Few in Birthday mode. Josh Evans (another friend from high school) filmed at least some of this performance, so there's footage of it somewhere.
Set List went like this:
Happy B'day
The Game of Life
Topic Jam
Aeronautical
Yo Symphony
Faces
Tony Tang (Topic Jam)
Hesitance
Summer
Tony Tang (Topic Jam)
That Track
tom foolery
The Team
Do-eh

Much fun had. We even got little Birthday party bags with lollies and stuff in them. And party hats!
