The wedding being done this way, in my head, is 90% for my mom. Because I would never hear the end of it. I have done so many things like this (i.e. heteronormitive) for her. Also, I think Mike's mom would be devastated if we didn't have a party of some sort. Plus I'm excited about cake. I have no real problem with this in part because I know that mom et al will all want to have their fingers in the pot, and once I get the basic structure down, I can kind of orchestrate. If the folks were in the states, i have a feeling mom would plan most of it, but she's not, so we'll see. Mike is already in charge of a bunch of stuff (food, the boys' stuff, his cake) and I think grammie/brenda will probably end up doing a lot of flower stuff. If I say "red roses" and I get pink and white something elses it wont really be a big deal.

Mmmm, I take the Catholic stance in that the sacrament is performed by the couple, and the church is there to basically say God's cool with this. This makes sense to me, and thus I feel no obligation to anyone regarding my relationship. (when Audrey and I were together we were effectively 'married' in my head, so I took the whole breaking up process particularly hard, even if I thought that we would make better friends) The ceremony in this case is to bring friends and family together and generally be an awesome shindig.
