The more I read the news, the more paranoid I become. Seems like every 3rd article that I read could've been written by Winston Smith working in the Ministry of Truth.

Does anybody else see this?

War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength.

i've been largely oblivious to current events for the past year, voluntarily. i used to pay attention, and it pushed me to the brink of a mental breakdown. wanting to be off the grid (homeless i guess), leave no paper trail, afraid because of the increase in surveillance legislature. the more i pay attention to politics, the more disheartened and pessimistic i become. every time you crack a paper, you find that the cops are being internally investigated for cockfighting rings, that senators are taking bribes and that congressmen are war profiteering. what's the point, really? we're all screwed. we only think we're free. sure, we have more material wealth than other places, better health care than some places. but material wealth and health care don't constitute freedom. you can be a fat rat who never thinks about being in a cage because the cage isn't too bad, but that doesn't mean you're not in a cage. i do fear our government. the fraternal order of old money movers and shakers has never cared about people. we're pawns to them. i wouldn't be surprised if an imminently corrupt political family staged a terrorist attack on its own soil in order to initiate a war that would directly benefit their personal businesses and those of their bedfellows. i wouldn't be surprised if secret assassinations were carried out on innocent people under the cloak of a shadow government, or if evidence was doctored and then called results. dude. seriously. i'm still scared shitless of america.
