leningrad is my experience with spoken language as a child. inspired by theresa hak kyung cha's dictee, everything contained within its 24 pages is there for a reason. even the horrendously translated spanish.

I can speak it, but its not right.
In Long Island, there are picket fences that only hurt if you are small and stupid and stick your limbs between the slats. My mother's black magic expired five years ago and left behind a worry and an inability to conjugate verbs.
She whispers with pre-school teachers and whispers with you and you stop speaking in tongues and I stop speaking entirely."
